Structure Fire Farmer Rd

Structure Fire Farmer Rd

On Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 12:40 p.m., Jefferson Fire District was dispatched to a structure fire at 2008 Farmer Rd., Jefferson, Oregon.  Upon arrival, Incident Commander Scott Shepherd stated that there was some smoke, however the fire had already been extinguished by the neighbor, Lindsay Park-Campell using a garden hose.

Owners Joseph and Denita Wallace were not at home when the fire started.  Ms. Park-Campell saw the flames on the back of the house and knew the owners were not at home, so she called 911.

Mrs. Wallace stated her husband had been torching weeds around the house earlier in the morning.  The cause of the fire appears to have started from a fire that was not completely out.  It spread to the house and up the dryer vent.    The damage to the structure is an estimated at $10,000.  The owners do have homeowner’s insurance.

The fire was deemed under control at 12:57 p.m.  There were no injuries.  Albany, Stayton, and Turner Fire also assisted on the call.
