News Release 8/22/16: Marion County Fire Defense Board Lifts Burn Ban

Due to the return of cooler weather and the increase of humidity, the Marion County Fire Defense Board has lifted the total burn ban that was imposed last Thursday, August 18, 2016, effective immediately.  Recreational and agricultural fires are allowed within Marion County beginning today, August 21st.   This does not include ODF regulated lands.

Remember that Oregon Department of Forestry Fire restrictions and closures still apply on all ODF regulated/protected lands which includes all burning.  Please contact the nearest Oregon Department of Forestry office for details and further information about waivers for regulated use rules including campfire waivers.   Campfires in designated County, State, and Federal parks and campgrounds, are not affected at this time.  Please refer to those entities for specific regulations for those locations.

Jefferson Fire District urges residents to continue to use extreme caution with smoking materials, barbecues, and other open flames. Visit our website at www.jeffersonfire.org for more tips, including how to protect a home located in a wildland urban interface, from a potential wildfire.
