What does a Volunteer Firefighter do?
Volunteer firefighters with the Jefferson Fire District are involved in all aspects of fire fighting, from structural, vehicular, to grass and wildland fires. Volunteer fire fighters train to become Emergency Medical Technicians, Apparatus Operators, Rescue Technicians and Fire Company Officers.

How do I become Volunteer Firefighter? Volunteer Application
The first step is to complete and submit an application.
You may stop by and see us at our main station located at 189 N. Main Street, Jefferson and pickup an application. You can also call the fire district at 541-327-2822 or email the district at jeffersonfire@jeffersonfire.org and we will mail an application to you. You will be contacted and an interview will be scheduled to discuss membership and training requirements.

What are the requirements to become a Volunteer Firefighter?
Candidates for Volunteer Firefighter must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be in good physical condition
- Reside or work within the fire district boundaries
- Possess a current, valid driver’s license
- Have an acceptable driving record
